Travel Information

Arrivals:
Guests will arrive in Lisbon, Portugal via Lisbon Portela Airport (LIS). The drive from Lisbon Airport to our starting hotel, the Tivoli Avenida Liberdade, is approximately 7 kilometers (4 miles) and takes about 20–30 minutes depending on traffic.
 
Departures:
At the end of the trip, guests will depart from Porto, Portugal via Francisco Sá Carneiro Airport (OPO).

• If you're departing from the Six Senses Douro Valley, the airport is about 130 kilometers (80 miles) away, with a travel time of approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes by car or transfer.

• If you’re joining the optional post-trip extension to Madeira, you’ll take a short domestic flight from Porto to Madeira, and depart internationally from Madeira Airport (FNC). Madeira Airport is about 20 minutes from most central hotels in Funchal.

Weather in July/Auguast:
LISBON

• Avg High: 84°F, Avg Low: 66°F

• What to Wear: Lightweight outfits, walking sandals, sun hat, light jacket for evenings. Lisbon is hilly – comfortable shoes a must!
   

PORTO

• Avg High: 78°F, Avg Low: 62°F

• What to Wear: Layers! It’s cooler here. Think jeans or dresses with light cardigans for evening. Flats or stylish sneakers for walking.
   

DOURO VALLEY

• Avg High: 90°F, Avg Low: 64°F

• What to Wear: Resort-chic for winery visits, swimsuits, sunglasses, and breathable fabrics for wine tastings and scenic cruises.

MADEIRA

• Avg High: 79°F, Avg Low: 68°F

• What to Wear: Beachwear, resort wear, and activewear for hiking. The vibe is tropical and relaxed think caftans, shorts, flowy tops.
